WHY DO WE DREAM?
We all dream, even those who insist they do not. The average person spends approximately 6 to 8 hours each day sleeping. Therefore, on the average we spend one-fourth to one-third of our lives sleeping. This means that by the time we are 75 years old, we have slept and dreamt for 25 years, or around 219,000 hours of our lifetime. Logically speaking, it makes complete sense to me that dreams would hold some type of significance to our spiritual, mental, emotional or physical well being.

Because we all dream every night all night long, dreams just happen to be the most accessible means by which we gain awareness of the inner levels of the subconscious mind. Dreams provide the communication that enables the inner and outer minds to function as one whole unit. When the conscious mind gives attention to the communication from the subconscious mind and when dreams are interpreted, a union is formed, much like a spiritual marriage. This relationship consists of two independent parts working together for the goodness of the whole, each benefiting from the union. Therefore, in looking for your Soul Mate, look within to the subconscious mind.

Maintaining objectivity with our own life is sometimes difficult. Oftentimes we cannot see the forest for the trees, and we don't realize we've become consumed with negativity or other unproductive attitudes. At other times, we simply fail to admit just how truly exceptional we are. The relatively new field of modern day psychology has become the most widely accepted method of therapy in the western world. Counselors and therapists are trained to understand human behavior. They are educated to delve into those areas of an individual's behavior that seem repressed, hidden or unconscious. They often serve as a trained ear for clients to vent their innermost thoughts and feelings about a particular matter. Counselors can offer an honest, objective perspective about what is truly occurring in their client's life.

Do not think for a moment however that this is the only purpose for dreaming. If you would like more information for how you can work on your dreams. Go back to Dreams.
