Marbelly's
Story
Marbelly
Miranda Walker was trained as a medical
doctor in Nicaragua, specializing in pathology
before she moved to Houston six years ago. She
practiced medicine in the military and also
had a private practice. She is also trained
in acupuncture. Marbellys kind and caring
heart has led her to do many volunteer activities
while in Houston, such as working as a home
healthcare nurse and provide mentoring to women
in crisis at Houstons Area Womens
Center. For the past year and a half, Marbelly
has worked with breast cancer survivors at The
Rose, a free-standing breast center for the
underserved in Houston, where she serves as
the Sponsorship Coordinator for women in need
of healthcare services. She facilitates the
only Spanish speaking support group for Breast
Cancer survivors in Houston. In addition, Marbelly
translated the entire Mind, Body, & Spirit
Program to Spanish and has now taught the program
to 17 Latino women. (See photos below). Marbelly
lives in Houston with her husband, Rick, and
their three children.
Comments from Denise
Meeting Marbelly was a blessing! When we first
met and she took the Mind, Body, Spirit program
over a year ago, it was clear that she was destined
to be one of our facilitators. She was a very
dedicated student and immediately applied what
she was learning to her everyday life. She has
a natural intuiveness that keeps her in touch
with her inner wisdom. She saw such great value
from the program that she immediately moved
into facilitator training when it was offered.
While working a fulltime job and raising three
children, she took it upon herself to translate
the entire program to Spanish so it could be
offered to other Latino women. She is a gifted
and talented facilitator and brings great wisdom
and caring to her students. She has an interested
in being trained to interpret dreams on Hispanic
radio, being the first Latino Dream Lady.
